Delicious Coffee IdeasVariety is the spice of life and some coffee drinkers are not content just to grab a cup of plain coffee and run. To me, drinking coffee is an experience, one to be savored and enjoyed. I also like variety in my morning coffee, or any cup of coffee for that matter. It is like my own little world where I can relax and have what I want, when I want it. The house is quiet and I move to my reliable machine to make the perfect morning beverage. But sometimes “just” coffee is not enough. I want to have or make something with a little flavor (usually chocolate) to go with my warm drink of heaven. So I searched for some utterly delicious and original ideas to compliment my coffee beverage. Here are some interesting things to try: Coffee Dipped Hobnobs:The Hobnob is a tasty little biscuit that is covered with decadent chocolate on one side. This is a great little treat to have with your coffee. When you dip this biscuit in the warm coffee, it will melt the chocolate and then the whole thing just melts in your mouth. The sweet, rich chocolate on the biscuit is a perfect balance to a nice black cup of coffee. Those with a sweet tooth can get their sugar fix by dipping the hobnobs in flavored coffees. Experimenting with different flavors of coffee is enjoyable and it is difficult to pick a favorite. Coffee Brownie Shake:This is a real treat for any coffee lover and who doesn't love brownies? When you combine these two flavors it is utterly irresistible. Just grab your blender and put in 3 scoops of ice cream. Add 1/4 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of coffee. Pour in some thick chocolate syrup. How much syrup depends on how rich and chocolaty you want your shake. Run the blender until it is smooth and creamy, adding more milk if needed. Pour into a glass. Cut up 1-2 brownies into ½ cubes and mix into the shake. You can top this with whipped cream and then get ready to enjoy. Peppermint Hot mocha with cream:What do you do with all those candy canes left over from Christmas? I don't know about you, but I end up throwing them all away. If you want a good use for all the left overs, it is a peppermint hot mocha. This is a fairly simple drink to prepare. You just combine coffee with a hot chocolate drink mix; such as Swiss Miss or Hershey's. I like to add half and half heated in the microwave. Stir to mix. Top this off with a dollop of whipped cream and then add your candy cane. Give it a few stirs or let it rest for a minute and enjoy. That is really the only way I like those candy canes. Coffee Yogurt:I was really unsure of this one, but it really is delicious. As weird as it sounds, is healthy way to have the flavor of coffee and get a little caffeine in. Make a small cup of espresso or really strong coffee. Add this to a bowl or cup of yogurt along with sugar to taste. I used vanilla yogurt to add a little extra sweet flavor. I also added 2 teaspoons of soluble fiber powder. I figured as long as I'm trying to be healthy, I might as well go all the way. It is a great little one stop breakfast..you have your coffee and eat it too. |
